The inner knee body contains 3 cores:
(a) a ventral
(b) a dorsal and
(c) a medial or large (magnocellular)
The ventral nucleus, which can be said to be the main sound mediator, receives the sound signals from the colliculus inferior and relays them further out into the auditory radiation to the primary auditory cortex (BA 41,42).
