Fourth cerebral ventricle

Ventriculus quartus

4th ventricle, Ventriculus IV

Part of the ventricular system of the brain. Is sandwiched between the brainstem and the cerebellum. 4.de ventricle has in its thin back wall two cerebrospinal fluid-producing blood vessel/choroidal braids and the three openings, two to the side (right and left foramen Lushka) and one posterior (foramen Magendie), which allow cerebrospinal fluid to flow out of the ventricular system to the subarachnoid space from where it can pass into the bloodstream (channeled into the upper mid-orbital blood channel using the so-called arachnoid midges to be finally carried away with the blood from the head).
