Sight Nucleus, Centre Medianum

Nucleus centromedianus thalami

Thalamus nucleus, center medianum., center medianum., CM nucleus.

Belongs to the intralaminar caudal group of visual moucus nuclei. and is counted among the limbic thalamus nuclei.

The center medianum receives signal flows from the cerebellar nuclei, especially from the nucleus fastigii and nucleus dentatus. The nucleus also receives sinals from the back horn of the spinal cord (nociception), from several brainstem nuclei and not least from cholinergic, noradrenergic and serotoninergic units.

The center medianum is efferent connected with the putamen and with the motor cortex, (BA 4+ part of BA 6). The nucleus is plugged into the basal ganglia circuit system.
