Psammoma body

Calcification in the blood vessel braid, Sand growth

These occur during aging in the lateral ventricle's blood vessel braid. They consist of clumped calcified blood vessel nodules. Psammoma bodies usually occur in the part (glomus region) of the lateral ventricle vascular braid where it curves around the posterior pole of the visual mound (pulvinar thalami). The calcium deposit makes the area visible in an X-ray image and can then be used as a benchmark.
