Ranvier's nodes

The Ranvier nodes are regularly recurring short, approx. 1 micrometer long, interruption of the myelin sheath around the axons in both the PNS and the CNS. At the nodes, for the electrical information scattering, i.e. for the so-called saltatory impulse scattering, the necessary membrane discharge and the formation and amplification of the nerve impulse take place.
