A thin layer of white matter situated between the midsection of the grey spinal cord (H-ets crossbar) and the bottom of the anterior
median fissure (fissisure mediana anterior). The commissura alba anterior contains nerve fibers which cross over the midline. The junction enables nerve fibers to change sides during their course up or down the spinal cord. Here, among other things, the important
conduction path (tractus spinothalamicus) intersects, which conveys pain and temperature sensations from the body below the chin line.
