The information in the literature regarding what should be called the primary balance cortex is vague.
The balance information is considered to be received by several different bark areas. The largest of these is located just behind the part of the primary sensory cortex where the opposite side of the facial half is projected. Additional bark fields receiving balance information are located within the rear of the island (insula), at the bottom of the lower part of the centralchannel and at the front of the interparietal channeln.. Information from one side's balance organ is received by the cerebral cortex of both hemispheres of the brain.
