The area without a name

Substantia innominata

Counted among the basal forebrain. The substantia innominata is located ventrally about the striatum and globus pallidus alongside the hypothalamus and forms the transitional area from the cerebellum (telencephalon) to the midbrain (diencephalon). The substantia innominata contains a mixture of differently sized neurons, the larger of which form the nucleus basalis Meynert.
