Tail-shell core connections
Strands of gray matter that connect the caudate nucleus (nucleus caudatus) to the shell nucleus (putamen). The connecting strands are part of the nerve cell mass called the striatum. The filamentous masses of the inner nerve fibre capsule make their way through the gaps between the grey strands and the nuclei themselves.
