The Tooth Winding

Gyrus dentatus

Fascia dentata

Narrow toothed winding sandwiched under the arch band (= the first part of the vault) between the hippocampus itself and the parahippocampal winding. The toothed winding, which is part of the hippocampus complex, receives signals from the entorhinal cortex, reconnects them and transmits them further into the hippocampus complex to the so-called CA areas (Cornu Ammonis areas).
