Narrow toothed winding sandwiched under the arch band (= the first part of the
vault) between the
hippocampus itself and the
parahippocampal winding. The toothed winding, which is part of the hippocampus complex, receives signals from the
entorhinal cortex, reconnects them and transmits them further into the
hippocampus complex to the so-called CA areas (
Cornu Ammonis areas).
