Frontal lobe of the pituitary gland

Adenohypophysis

Gland pituitary gland

The anterior part of the pituitary gland. Develops during the fetal period in the pharyngeal roof and then "migrates" upwards and into the future skull cavity where it grows together with the pituitary gland hind lobe. The frontal lobe consists of glandular tissue that produces superior sex, thyroid and adrenocortical hormones as well as growth hormone.
