The wart body

Corpus mammillare

Bulging bud, a t.hay. and a left, on the outside/underside of the hypothalamus, located just behind the pituitary stalk. The area receives the postcommissural part of the vault and is the starting point for the tractus mammillo-thalamicus and tractus mammillo-tegmentalis and receives pedunculus corporis mammillaris.

Each wart body contains three pieces of nuclei:
1/ the large, distinct, nucleus mammillaris medialis and
2/ the much smaller, often contested, nucleus mammillaris lateralis and
3/ supramammillaris nucleus.
