Located on hay. and we. side in the inner/medial hypothalamus zone. The nucleus receives afferens from e.g. epithalamus, PAG, locus coeruleus, and nucleus solitarius. The efference from the nucleus is led out into the MFB and on to the nucleus rafes dorsalis, locus coeruleus and the sympathetic spinal cord nucleus.
The posterior hypothalamus nucleus participates in the control of body temperature and is believed to play along with emotionally triggered stress reactions.
