Diffusion Tensor Tractography is an advanced magnetic camera-based imaging (MRI) method, with which it is possible to reproduce the course of different conduction pathways in the living human brain.
The technique makes it possible to depict the diffusion direction of water molecules. The water molecules in the axons that make up the different conduction pathways can above all diffuse (move) in the longitudinal direction of the axon! This narrowing of the direction of diffusion can be recorded, imaged and combined with conventional MRI images.
