Belongs to the upper/dorsal group of thalamus nuclei.
The nucleus lateralis posterior thalami, one on the right and one on the left side, connects to the pulvinar core group and receives signals from the lamina tecti and has round-trip connections with the parietal lobe BA 5 and BA 7 and with parts of the limbic lobe.
