The membrane labyrinth is enclosed in the cavity in the temporal bone called the bone labyrinth. The membrane labyrinth together with the bone labyrinth form the inner ear (auris interna).
The membrane labyrinth consists of two parts: 1/ the balance organ (vestibularis labyrinth) and 2/ the organ of hearing (cochlearis labyrinth).
