Extended marrow

Medulla oblongata

Bottom part of the brainstem. Transitions upwards into the bridge and borders downwards to the spinal cord. At the front, the elongated marrow, on either side of the midline, exhibits two distinct elevations: an inner - the pyramid - and an outer - the olive. At the posterior, the medulla on either side of the midline exhibits two distinct elevations: the inner and outer posterior tubercles. Cranial nerves 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11(partially), and 12 all originate from the medulla.
