Superficial structures on the outside of the brain. Before the release of the island (insula) begins, you can get the name and location of some more important superficial brain parts. You do as usual by examining with the pointer on the image or directly in the lists:

Step 1.

The clearance is being prepared. The island, or insula, is hidden at the bottom of the side channel and is covered by the three "bark caps": the forehead lid, the crown lid and the temple cap. In order to access the island area, we have to cut off the bar bell! First, the forehead and crown caps are removed. In connection with this, the upper temporal lobe winding upper side with the auditory cortex also becomes clearly visible.

Step 2.

The partially cleared island area. Almost the entire island area can now be seen here. Its lower part is obscured by the temple cap. The well-developed planum temporale behind the auditory cortex of the left upper temporal lobe winding is well visible in the detail image to hay.

Step 3.

The removal of the temporal lobe cover and parts of the temporal lobe is being prepared.
